These 'pre-experience' Masters programmes are suitable for individuals who have recently graduated, or may be undertaking significant management responsibility for the first time.
MBA programmes:
The school also offers a number of 'post- experience' programmes more suited to those who already have a significant level of professional work experience. These include:
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Masters of Business Administration - Executive Programme (Exec MBA) Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA)
The Business School places a strong emphasis on its MBA programmes and these have been accredited by the Association of MBA's (AMBA) since 1988.
The full-time MBA is 12 months in duration and is ideal for professionals looking to take a short career break and who want to focus on further developing their strategic management skills. The Executive MBA is 24 months in duration and is aimed at senior managers who want to combine part-time study with a full-time career.

Academic excellence as standard:

This grouping reflects the research centres of expertise within the School, which in turn informs teaching practice. Our lecturers are experts in their chosen specialty, research active and professionally recognised.
All of our programmes have a strong international focus and are constantly updated to ensure students are provided with the latest professional and research knowledge, along with the best possible learning experience.
Giving students the best opportunities:
We pride ourselves on ensuring that students get a high level of personalised and individual attention whilst they are studying with us. Similarly, learning is seen as a three way partnership between yourself, your fellow colleagues and the academic staff here at the School. Programmes are taught via a mixture of seminars, traditional lectures, group work and skills based exercises. Case studies are used extensively, and are designed to provide students with practical examples of 'real' work based situations.
A number of our programmes also provide students with work placement opportunities, utilise guest speakers, as well as encouraging students to develop practical entrepreneurial skills.
The Business School has a dedicated student social programme which facilitates social integration outside of the formal classroom setting, alongside providing the opportunity to explore the North East region.
Location and facilities:
The Business School is currently located on three city centre sites, but will be moving to the new multi million 'Downing Plaza' development in 2010, bringing together both staff and students in one new purpose built, high tech and accessible building .The move positions the School at the heart of the innovative 'Newcastle Science City' development, helping to further facilitate engagement with the local, national and international business community. The main university campus provides excellent sports and social facilities including the Newcastle Students Union Building, numerous shops, bars and student support services. The main campus is also home to our award winning careers and library services.
To assist our students in finding employment, the Business School has a dedicated careers advisor with specialist business knowledge, helping you to develop practical skills and to maximise your appeal to key employers.
