Graduate Research Support was created in September 1995 to provide a focus and catalyst for research, especially in cross-school developments and activities, for research students and as a vehicle for enhancing the level of intellectual debate within the University. The University of Sunderland play a full part in the development of high quality research teams and centres and contributes to the intellectual well being and wealth of the community. Graduate Research Support assist staff and students in their endeavours by bringing together all levels and types of support for research from one office.
Graduate Research Support is a centralised office within the Academic Services of the University and is responsible for the administration of research students on research degree programmes from admission to completion of the examination process including the research student training programme. The service is led by the the Director of Academic Services, Beatrice Ollerenshaw and the Assistant Director, Mr Simon Kerridge. The staff are organised with the intention to provide an integrated support mechanism offering the best possible support to research/academic staff and research students.
The University is able to offer MPhil and PhD programmes in all of its Faculties. It can respond flexibly to students' interests, and where appropriate can arrange for joint supervision across Faculties.
