Divisha Maroli MSc Entrepreneurship & Innovation
| |
I chose to study Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Essex, as the course teaches you how to build and run successful businesses both independently and within organisations.
The course is robust, dynamic and challenging and the classes encourage creative thinking. Professors are friendly and helpful and everyone is given individual attention.
The School has a lot more to offer in addition to the teaching. The Student Enterprise Club enables students to undertake entrepreneurial activities and develop their business plans. The School is culturally diverse; we get to meet likeminded people from all over the world and develop global business networks.
The University also has part-time jobs available. I work as an Admissions and Marketing Assistant under the University's Frontrunner scheme. This job allows me to apply my academic knowledge and develop my work skills. My wages; a pretty tidy sum, help to support my time at university.
The Business School is located in the charming town of Southend-on-Sea. Pretty much everything is a short walk away and because of the large student population, there is always something happening to keep you entertained.
The University is a cultural melting pot of sorts and I would recommend it to anyone who is seeking a well rounded university education. |
Humphrey Omorodion MSc Adult Nursing
| |
Humphrey is a first year MSc Adult Nursing student. After working for over ten years as a civil servant he decided he would like a career change into a profession where he can care for people.
I decided to study for the MSc Adult Nursing at the University of Essex as the course provides me with the opportunity to gain a double qualification; I will not only gain a Masters degree but I will also become a registered nurse.
The School of Health and Human Sciences is very well organised and the staff are always willing to help students achieve their goals. The lecturers are friendly, flexible and always willing to help.
I am currently enjoying the assessment module because it is the core of nursing and it enables me to make initial contact with patients which requires good communication skills. The MSc in Adult Nursing has also allowed me to build on the skills that I gained in previous jobs as a receptionist and in the civil service and transfer them to a nursing environment.
The course makes it easy to put theory into practice as the teaching modules are followed by placements. After the placements there is the opportunity to review your placement which means that you can learn from the experience and improve your performance.
The School is very well equipped and I have benefited from being able to use the Sim man in the labs, however nothing really sets you up for working with a real-life patient!
Whilst studying at the University of Essex I have decided that after completing the MSc in Adult Nursing I would like to specialise in Cardiology as I am fascinated with the way the heart works. I have also considered working in NHS management where I would be able to combine my financial work experience with my nursing experience.
I would recommend the course to those interested in making a difference to peoples' lives and who want a rewarding career. |
